"Home away from home" (tabled on 5 January 2022)
If you find yourself browsing this site, looking for a comfortable holiday home in a rural setting with good proximity to interesting towns and great beaches, look no further!
We (my partner and mother in law) stayed here for 2 weeks in July 2021 and had a wonderful holiday. The house is just perfect, very spacious and comfortable. It’s got everything and is a real home away from home. Also the downstairs bedroom and ensuite bathroom were ideal for my mother in law. Spacious deck area to enjoy BBQs and a lawn to play games in the evenings. Nearby village is a 5 minute drive or 15 minutes by bike, very handy for fresh bread and croissants in the morning. There is also a supermarket. Adrian & Sylvia, who live next door, are great hosts and made us feel welcome. It was a pleasure to return to the house each evening after a day at the beach or in Rennes/Dinan/Saint Malo.

Great place to stay, Adrian and Sylvia have thought of everything and can’t do enough to help. The log fire really adds to the place, with cosy evenings in. The HyperU at nearby Combourg is outstanding. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.

Well what can I say about Le Grange: An excellent location and quality barn conversion that helped make our two weeks in Brittany very enjoyable. The tranquil location, once found was amazing, lots of wildlife and farm animals, but very little other noise. The barn has been converted to a very high standard and the kitchen in particular has been comprehensively stocked with crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and the lounge big enough for 8 of us to sit and chat. Outside there is a large decking area with table and chairs for 8 and a range of deck chairs that can be taken into the gardens. The BBQ was easy to light and sat out on the decking area watching the heron on it perch while then sun set was peaceful. Adrian and Sylvia were great hosts and no more so when the area suffered a black out overnight, Adrian cam around with a 2 ring gas stove to allow us make coffees and porridge for breakfast. They even offered to make toast in their caravan parked around the back. Our 2 weeks was split with two sets of family staying and again our hosts were gracious enough to allow our family who live in France to bring their small dog with them. A great base to explore local area including amazing fortress at Fougeres, Mont Saint-Michel, St Malo, Dinan, Rennes and my favourite Dinard with its excellent beach at St Enogate. All our guests have stated how impressed they were and they would like to return next year.

This is a really fabulous place to stay. There is plenty to do in the local area and we have all loved our holiday. The Grange is extremely well kitted out, the facilities are excellent and a great deal of care has been taken to provide a fabulous holiday home. We had 2 young children - 1 and 5 and this was a perfect base for them and good for us a parents too. The bedrooms are lovely, bathrooms plentiful and excellent and the living spaces have everything you need and a great place to relax after a busy day exploring. So much thought has gone into this property thank you for a wonderful Stay.

We all thought Le Grange was in a very peaceful area and the owners were very helpful and if we go back to the area we would stay there again. The house was very good and we had a very good time. It was immaculate with lots of extras in the form of kitchen items a good BBQ, all in all it was great.

Immediately upon arrival we were taken with the gite. It was clean, homely and beautifully decorated but still had some true character with the exposed stone work. The outside area with the decking and BBQ was lovely and the owners - Adrian and Sylvia - were extremely welcoming and extended their kindness by allowing our children to play in their wonderfully huge garden on a daily basis with their lovely little grandson, Henry. The large pond with the little row boat was especially lovely and all of us enjoyed watching the local wildlife from the fish and the frogs of the pond to the owls and the bats that came out at dusk. Whilst being in a more remote location, the gite is perfectly situated to be able to visit many places including Combourg, St Malo, Rennes, Saint Michel and many many more. Adrian and Sylvia were very helpful in recommending places to take the children on our holiday. The gite is exceptionally well equipped - you literally need to bring just your clothes. It is very clear that every little thing has been thought of. The only downside for me is that in August it was too warm to be able to use the lovely wood burned in the lounge area but surely that only leaves room for a visit again in the colder months :) Thank you so much Adrian and Sylvia, we loved staying at your gite and really couldn't recommend it any higher. Our boys say 'Hi' to Henry too :)

There were 8 of us including two children(7&9) and we all fitted in really well. Its a very spacious place and the three bathrooms made it easy. The style is wonderful and the facilities excellent. The garden was fantastic for adults and children alike and sitting in the afternoon and evening sunshine in it and on the rear patio was great. The location is extremely quiet and rural but the local town is only a 5 minute drive away and there are many places to visit within 30 - 45 minutes drive. The owners Adrian and Sylvia made us very welcome and were helpful on places to go e.g. beaches and restaurants locally. We would definitely recommend it and will look to go back there again ourselves.

We were by chance the first guests to rent this property and were delighted with it. The owners are English and Le Grange is a barn conversion which Adrian has built himself. The setting is lovely - at the end of a small lane off a very minor road, totally peaceful. The property is immaculate, with four good sized bedrooms. One is downstairs, with a spacious walk in wet room suitable for disabled use. Adrian has constructed a beautiful wooden spiral staircase, and a wonderful full height window frame with the front door at its centre. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a coffee/espresso machine especially welcome. There is a nice decking area outside with table and chairs, overlooking the owners' garden and pond (which we were welcome to use). Their own property is, however, totally separate with no windows overlooking the properties in either direction. The nearest town is Bazouges, a typical small picturesque town, and Combourg, with its chateau, is just 15 minutes away. We would recommend a visit to the nearby chateau at La Ballue - the gardens are exquisite. Mont St Michel is about one hour's drive. Tennis courts are at Combourg or the closer village of Cuguen. The owners were very welcoming, but equally discrete, and loaned us two adult bikes for cycling among the country lanes. Ours was a summer visit, but one in winter would be lovely too - there is a large modern wood burning stove to enjoy. We are happy to warmly recommend this property to others.

As we arrived we were warmly welcomed by Adrian and had a stress free key handover with much appreciated refreshments. The property looked great on approach and previous positive reviews gave us confidence this would be the case. However it has to be said we weren't expecting to feel the wow factor that overwhelmed us all as we got out the car. First reactions with the huge hand crafted window/door feature and handcrafted spiral staircase were really impressing. When we learned of the effort and time the owners had put into restoring/building the barn conversion and to the degree of high finish you couldn't help but feel honoured to be trusted with their masterpiece. My young childeren spent the week asking me 'did the man make this?' 'How did the man make it?' The owners made every effort to maximise our enjoyment during the stay, they also made every effort to allow our kids to maximise their fun. They offered use of their grandchildren’s swing, let them feed their big collection of fish in the pond (separately fenced from the house) and gave good suggestions of places to go. The garden is beautifully done and clearly keeps them busy keeping looking so good. The grass was cut 2/3 times during the week and new plants planted. They clearly made a conscious effort it was done as we were out, so not to disturb. We felt everything was geared around the wellbeing of the guest. Wifi was good, English freesat tv was also good. We have already been recommending to others.
