Having purchased this as a derelict property close to the Brittany, Normandy boarder in 1996 we set about renovated the original house and making a garden out of a field, we then converted the barn to become our holiday let using all the skills gained working and teaching in the building trade all my working life. We choose this property because it was conveniently situated within a short distance of the ferry and amongst peaceful countryside. We also enjoy the wildlife that frequents our garden and the surrounding fields. This includes deer, wild boar, red squirrels (often seen in the garden), hares etc. Buzzards soar above the gardens and can be heard calling. We are sometimes visited by kingfishers, who along with the heron, appreciate the fish in our pond.
As this is just one of three properties at the end of a quiet lane that only leads to open fields there is very little noise or disturbance, perhaps just the occasional local fisherman going to fish in the river at the bottom of the garden

Since we retired we have split out time between France and our home on the south coast of England spending most of the summer in France and then making shorter trips at other times to enable us to be available whenever we have guests. This means we can take booking for anytime of the year including Christmas and New year. When at Le Bas Courget we live in the house adjacent to Le Grange.
